On Craig’s letter, and on Anonymous Juice.

Dear Readers,

Today’s letter is by Craig Taylor, an Open Letters editor who lives in Toronto, Ontario. He is in many ways the engine that powers this magazine: in addition to his editorial contributions, he designed our web site, and maintains it daily; he is also the creator of the line drawings that accompany each letter, as well as what one reader called “that psychotic wavy line” at the top of each letter.

During the day he is an editor atSaturday Night, where I used to work. And, to round out his schedule, he is the editor and proprietor of Anonymous Juice, a sporadically published magazine that has featured stories about cow judging, divorce, and Ricky Martin’s hypochondria. At the launch party for issue #2, Craig played “Stairway to Heaven,” quite poorly, on his accordion.

Craig’s letter is part of our week of letters by the Open Letters editorial staff. It’s our roundabout way of introducing ourselves. His letter is addressed to his younger brother Scott, a twenty-year-old actor who is currently working in a sports store called “Extreme,” at a mall in Vancouver.

Tomorrow: a fainting spell, a sex-change operation, and the trials of Chuck Knoblauch.

Yours truly,

Paul Tough
